So I've been on the fence about whether or not I should bother with a blog ever since I started offering my services as a photographer last year and I guess I'm finally diving in. So, where to start? I figured I'd tell you a little more about myself and my background. I first entered the darkroom at age fourteen and have been hooked ever since. I graduated from the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle and from there worked as an assistant to fine art photographer Jock Sturges for four years. During this time a did a few weddings here and there but it gave me so much anxiety because I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing and there's so much pressure to capture everything! It wasn't until I spent a few years working as an in-hospital new born photographer for Bella Baby Photography that I really got comfortable with posing people and learning how to be quick and resourceful. Since I started doing weddings last summer I really love it now. I go in feeling confident and I'm so proud of the images I've produced for my clients.
But who am I exactly? Hmm... nobody really likes writing about themselves but I guess I would say I'm a fairly non-traditional, introverted and empathetic person. Maybe this isn't the right place for it but if you look me up on Facebook you'll discover pretty quickly that I am a very politically opinionated left leaning person. If liberals are "snowflakes" you can call me Princess Blizzard. Human rights are extremely important to me. I support Black Lives Matter, Indigenous Rising, and the LGBT community and I donate time and money to various groups that benefit these causes. I like to think of myself as an intersectional feminist. I would never turn down a client for having a difference of opinion and politics is not something I would ever bring up at a wedding (way too busy taking photos to talk to people about anything really!) but for those who are interested in who I am that sums it up pretty well. I just think we get the best out of humanity when everyone has a fair chance.
